I traded as NUdesign Limited, using my CAD skill on contract work (bulleted below) in engineering, manufacturing & construction for three years from December 2000.
SLW Architectural Aluminium Ltd, Wakefield. My first foray into curtain walling in Yorkshire with management of client, contractor, architect, glass manufacturers and subcontractors.
Ludus Leisure Ltd designs and sells children’s playgrounds and ball courts. I produced professional engineering drawings including 3D models for every component part for these modular systems. In so doing, I established the drawing office standards from a numbering system to drawing templates all to ensure consistency of product from different fabricators.
Sunrise Medical, Stourbridge. 6-month project to correct a neglected and complex BOM database for manual and power wheelchairs and to update parts catalogues.
James Gibbons Structural Glass provided a six-month contract to detail a Pilkington Planar installation (doors & screens) at Star City in Birmingham and a corner retail site on London’s Tottenham Court Road. This included co-ordinating work with architects & sub-contractors.
My first contract work at A.I. Product Solutions was detailing a complex structure that formed the base frame of a 3D simulator motion platform. I then got the contract to detail the passenger capsule for both it and its smaller ‘sister ship’ (working from home.)
